What is a VPS?

A VPS (virtual private server) is your own virtual server, with its own operating system, reserved memory and storage, and full root or administrator access, running on our hardware in Cork. You choose the software and how it is configured.

Are backups and EDR really included with every VPS?

Yes. Every VMotion Host VPS includes a daily Acronis backup of the whole server, stored off-site in Acronis EU data centres in Frankfurt, Germany, plus Acronis EDR (endpoint detection and response) security. Both are part of the monthly price, not add-ons.

Can I run n8n, OpenClaw or Claude Code on my VPS?

Yes. Choose the app when you order and we deliver your server with it installed. Claude Code needs your own Claude Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise or Console account. OpenClaw needs your own AI model API key. n8n is installed as the free Community Edition. VPS Start suits Claude Code and n8n; we recommend VPS Business for OpenClaw.

Is it safe to run an AI agent like OpenClaw on a VPS?

OpenClaw agents can run commands on the server, so we install it with its control panel available only on the server itself, not the public internet, and you connect through a secure SSH tunnel. Your server also has Acronis EDR watching for suspicious activity and daily backups to roll back to. Keep your API keys private and only add skills you trust.

What does EDR do on my server?

Acronis EDR watches your server for suspicious activity such as ransomware or unusual processes, records what happened, and lets our team contain the threat and restore from a clean backup. It is supported on Ubuntu 24.04, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and Windows Server.

Where are VMotion Host VPS servers located?

Your VPS runs in our Irish data centre in Cork, which is built to Tier III standards and ISO 27001:2022 certified. Backups are stored separately in Acronis EU data centres in Frankfurt, Germany. Servers elsewhere in the EU or in the USA are available on request.

What is the difference between the Performance and Storage VPS?

VPS Performance gives you more CPU and memory (8 vCPU and 32GB RAM) for databases, ERP and accounting systems or Windows remote desktops. VPS Storage gives you 1TB of storage with modest CPU and memory, for file servers, Nextcloud, document archives and media libraries.

Can I upgrade my VPS later?

Yes. Contact our Limerick team and we will upgrade your server to a larger plan as your needs grow.
